Death Valley National Park

We spent much of our time hiking around the Badwater Basin. It is the lowest point in North America. The boardwalk leads out to the salt flats, which was a very surreal experience. Hiking on the salt flats was like a walking on snow. The salt was moist from the recent rains and coated our shoes. The wind was blowing hard with gusts of up to 60 mph. The mountains on the opposite side of the basin were capped with snow. The temperature was 70 degrees.
Chelsea is having fun leaning into the wind!

A marker on the mountain indicates sea level.
