Cynthia and I planned a road trip to Yellowstone National Park. It was a 9 day trip with 5 days in Yellowstone Our stay in Yellowstone was outside of the west gate in West Yellowstone, Montana which provided a central location to explore the park. This was our first time there. Our first day was spent in the geyser basin where the main attractions are Old Faithful and Grand Prismatic Spring.
The rainbow colors that circle the hot springs as well as the rust colored runnoff are from bacteria that thrive in the extremely hot water. They are known as "thermophiles."
I had to climb a trail to the overlook to get this photo of the Grand Prismatic Spring.
The bison roam all over Yellowstone including the roads and parking lots.
