Our hotel was located a few blocks from the Eiffel Tower. After checking in, we went on a short walking tour. The next morning, after breakfast, Tim and I walked across a bridge over the River Seine to the Trocadero for spectacular views of the Eiffel Tower.

The Hôtel des Invalides , commonly called Les Invalides, is a complex of buildings, containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building's original purpose. Dôme des Invalides is the tallest church building in Paris. It has been converted into a shrine of some of France's leading military figures, most notably the tomb of Napoleon.
The Jardin du Luxembourg , known in English as the Luxembourg Garden, began in 1612 when Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV, constructed the Luxembourg Palace as her new residence.
