While not quite as dramatic as Yellowstone's Old Faithful Geyser, this smaller version in Calistoga, California is a spectacular wonder nevertheless. While waiting for Old Faithful to erupt we enjoyed the beautiful scenery and visited the petting zoo that's home to llamas, horned sheep, and mountain goats.
V. Sattui Winery is a family-owned property located in the heart of Napa Valley, which was founded in 1885 and makes more than 60 different wines. It is a stunning, must-see Napa Valley destination for picnics, weddings and events, offering an impressively robust Cheese Shop with more than 200 selections, an excellent Deli. The sprawling estate includes two-dozen picnic tables nestled beneath ancient Valley Oak trees where we stopped for lunch.
Sonoma is the heartbeat of wine country, rich with small-town charm, warm hospitality, and historic sites. Known as the birthplace of California wine and the farm-to-table movement, the capital of the Bear Flag Republic and the site of the last and northernmost of California’s 21 missions. We visited Mission San Francisco Solano, the Sonoma Barracks, and the Farmer's Market in the Plaza.
